I made this card for the Simon Monday Challenge. I wanted to send a New Years card to my in-laws and never got around to it but then the challenge prompted me to make one. I know it's a little late, but I don't care. It's still the new year to me. Today I needed to make a birthday card for a friend so I used the MIM #344 by Melissa Phillips that I missed. You were to make your die cuts a focal point of you card. I used three dies to make this card: Confetti Mix & Mat, Cloche Quarters, and Bakers Dozen. I also added some glitter, glossy accents and a little sewing to finish it off.

This is my first time taking part in the Simon Monday Challenge. I love a good challenge. I used only distress ink spiced marmalade on this card. I couldn't wait to use the shifter stencil to make my own background. It was fun using shading to make it look like different colors. For this PaperTrey Ink challenge I used three embossing colors on my leaves (copper, gold, and terracotta). I also had to emboss my cute little acorn. Only got two colors on it because it was too small. It was a fun challenge as I always like making fall cards.
This week I played along with PaperTrey and lifted this card made by Michelle Leone. I just loved the look of the grey with a pop of color. I ordered the wood stamp and can't wait to get it. I used my cute fox and leaves from the stylized autumn, the cloche quarters wood piece, and the sentiment is from Kind of corny. This was a really fun challenge over at PaperTrey Ink. It was an Ombre Watercolor Background. As soon as I saw it I thought of my blue hydrangeas. My inlaws are in RI right now and that is where I fell in love with these flowers so I made this card to send to them. I used TH Distress inks Salty Ocean, Tumbled Glass, and Mermaid Lagoon. The stamp sets were Friendship Jar Summer Fillers and Garden Variety for the sentiment. This week the PaperTrey Ink challenge was to use inchies. It's a fun, easy technique that I forget about. I made this card for my father in law who has a birthday on July 3rd. Not sure I like how the splats turned out but you don't have a lot of control over splats. The PaperTrey Ink Blog hop had and inspirational photo and it was perfect for a card I needed to send to my inlaws before they leave for a long trip. I focused on the colors and a few of the shapes. This Papertrey Ink challenge was so much fun this week! I'm not really familiar with graffiti art but after watching Lexi's video I was all in. I used three stamp sets: You Deserve Flowers, Mixed Bouquet, and an old favorite for the splat background Grunge Me. Can't wait to send this card out. I might even make another one using different colors. This weeks challenge at PaperTrey Ink is close to my heart. I love sewing on cards. I prefer using my sewing machine so this challenge reminded me there are other ways to sew and add lecture to my cards. I used oxide inks on the background and not sure I liked how it turned out. Might have to try again with just a clean background. Fun challenge anyway. This is the first time I have done the blog hop and I'm very excited to see all the cards. The photo inspiration was so pretty. I picked out the blue, a little wood grain, and the flowers. This weeks challenge at PTI was to use the color wheel to make a card. I liked the idea and picked my colors and then when I got them layed out the red I chose was really close to the orange, but it took a long time to stamp all those die cuts so I just went with it. I was also excited to use my new "hello" die and cut that out 4 times to layer it to give it a little dimension. It's hard to see in the photo.Teresahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08687067660506075118noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8711470547634949018.post-31849164337368571502018-02-15T13:46:00.000-08:002018-02-15T13:46:10.371-08:00Color Challenge

Another anniversary challenge from PaperTrey Ink and for some reason color challenges are difficult for me. These colors that Betsy used on her card jumped out at me. I love green and purple together. On to the next challenge.
This PaperTrey Ink challenge was a really fun, hard challenge. Don't use any stamps? It did force me to take a look at all the dies I have and I discovered I have more than I thought I did. I decided to layer several die cuts and ended up using four different dies so I think I did pretty good. I also cut out three of the word hugs and layered them to add a little more dimension (its hard to see in the photo). Todays PaperTrey Ink challenge was to use a stamp set that is on the retirement list. I think that this Vintage Picnic set might have been one of the first stamp sets I bought from PTI. I know I have used it many times over the years and definitely got my moneys worth out of it. I also used one of the new mix and mat dies as it reminded me of a basket weave. I used the stamp from the Friendship Jar Flowers to make this card. All pinks for a breast cancer survivor. I also used the sentiment from Vintage Picnic Sentiments (because I had it out for the next challenge, as its a retiring set) and it fit perfect with this card. I love using the middle die in the mix and mat die sets to add texture without cutting a mat.Teresahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08687067660506075118noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8711470547634949018.post-31464474023739862842018-02-07T12:02:00.002-08:002018-02-07T12:02:20.553-08:00Another Sketch

I love a good sketch challenge and there were so many choices at PaperTrey Ink. This sketch from Michelle jumped out at me because it was so clean and simple. I had several stamp sets pulled out to use but settled on my Bakers Dozen because I needed another birthday card. The challenge today at PaperTrey Ink was to use different types of papers on your card. I used some dictionary paper and some old patterned paper from my stash. I stamped some leaves on the dictionary paper but it's hard to see in the photo. I used four different PaperTrey stamps sets on this card, which has to be a record for me. I also made my own felt flower which was fun. Can't wait to send this card. I got this butterfly stamp free with my order from Papertrey Ink during Stamp-A-Faire. I am very excited to use it. I heat embossed it and then used oxide inks to make the watercolor background. I really like how it turned out. Can't wait to make another card. This was a fun challenge for Papertrey Ink to use a small image and to repeat it. I used a little bee from my Honey Bees stamp set and I die cut the hexagons with my cover plate. I needed a thank you note to send so perfect timing. It's fun to used little stamps in a way you don't usually use them. Can't wait to make more faux leather with this technique. Took a little bit of time to dry but well worth it. Teresahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08687067660506075118noreply@blogger.com2
