Card Pattern Challenge

Today I tried the card pattern sketch challenge. I think it's one of the first time I have used banners. I'm always a little behind on the trends. Ha Ha I think it turned out okay. I had to flip the sketch to get more of my banners on.

PTI Blog Hop / Flowers

This is my first time to participate in the Papertrey Ink blog hop and I am really excited! You were to use flowers somewhere on your card. I'm not really a flowery person so this was a challenge for me. I had seen on someones blog the idea to use old sewing patterns to cut out and make flowers so this was the perfect opportunity for me to try the idea out. I die cut my flowers out of the pattern paper and then sprayed them with glimmer mist. I think they turned out cute. I wish I had more flower dies so I could layer, but I don't. Since I was using my old patterns for flowers I decided to stay with the sewing theme and use the quilt blocks to make a fence. The flower stems are from bitty buttons set. Can't wait to join in the hop.

Pet Sympathy

Make It Monday challenge over at Papertrey Ink was to make a sympathy card. She talked about using some bright colors but mine didn't come out very bright. I did use green, does that count? Well this is a set from papertrey that is for a pet sympathy. It has two other nice sentiments as well as that little paw print that I used to make my own embellishment. Sympathy cards are hard for everyone to make and I'm no different.

Happy Anniversary

Today is my anniversary to my wonderful husband. We don't really make a big deal and since this year is 22 (no milestone) just a card will do. When I can't find a challenge that I want to do (I know the idea of a challenge might be doing something you don't normally do) I go back to my stand by - Cards magazine. They had a lot of cards this month with the wood grain texture or stamp and since I just got the Tim Holtz wood grain embossing folder it was perfect for this masculine anniversary card. I also love using this Papertrey tiny valentine set for other things.

Mojo Challenge

I haven't done the Mojo Monday challenge in a while so I gave it a try. This is a thank you for a grandma that I am going to have my son send for a birthday gift. I think it will be great for the grandma but I don't know if my son will like the card. It's kinda pink and a little flowery but I like how it turned out and I guess it doesn't matter if he likes it or not.

Leukemia Birthday

My friend Linda has leukemia and she had a transplant yesterday. They brought her a cake and said it was her birthday! So I decided that I needed to make a pretty birthday card to send her. It's hard to see that the paper has sparkles on it so it is bright and shiny. Hope she is doing well today. I lifted the card idea from Cards. Why do I feel like I'm cheating when I lift a card idea from a magazine but feel so proud when I participate in a sketch challenge? Really the same thing aren't they? Does anyone else feel this way or is it just me?

Love Sac

Interesting title I know. That is what this giant bean bag like chair is called that we got for my son for his 15th birthday. It's really hard to get gifts for teen age boys who already have all the electronics they want. So I guess you buy a chair for them to sit in while the play their games. The dog seemed to like it too. Any way this is the weekly sketch from sketch inspiration. I used old old basic grey paper and that made me feel good, of course the chip board and stamps are new!

You've got mail

Today I used another image from my Papertrey friendship jar set. I think I said this before but I'm so glad I got this set. I'm using it for all kinds of cards that I didn't even think about. So this is a sketch challenge from Card Patterns. I haven't used my sew easy lately sew it was a good opportunity to get it out and sew some scallops.

Doodle Bug

You know how when something easy ends up being hard? Well that's what happened with this card. I bought one of those new Doodle Bug pre-cut cards thinking I would be able to make a really fast card and then ended up taking just as much or maybe more time with it. It came out okay but I think I will just stick with regular cards in the future. I really liked the scallop but I think what threw me off was the polka dots that show. I wanted to match that paper with more paper and couldn't. I guess maybe I need to buy more Doodle Bug paper, ha ha

Spring Flowers

I'm still making spring time flower cards yeah! This card is made with a stamp from Papertrey. It is from a jar filler set that I just got and couldn't wait to use. It's so much fun to use a new stamp. I'm sure I will be using this stamp again in the future.

Graduate

Last night my son had a ballgame and we ran into his cousin playing at the same field. They are only six months apart in age but many inches in height. I just love the smiles that baseball and cousins brings out.

It's that time of year to start making your graduation cards so I got out all my stamps and dies. I saw a card using these tickets so I lifted that idea and came up with this. All my grad cards are black and white. They feel kinda boring but I have something to send.

Tulips

Today I have a card that I think I am going to use for a Mothers Day card. It's brand new from Papertrey and the stamp is so pretty. To color the tulips I had to buy another copic marker to get the shading right. I know that's sad isn't it. I did go to the gallery at papertrey to get help with the coloring of the flowers. I think they turned out pretty good. That part took me so long the rest of the card is pretty simple. I do like the scallops though. I can't wait to try and color this image again with a different color, but that will mean buying another marker.
