Make It Monday

This weeks challenge over at Papertrey Ink was two step masking and I really like how my card turned out. I love their videos as they get me to try new technique that I haven't tried before or just revisit an old technique . Do you think my card looks a little like looking out a window at a bike?

Summer Card Camp!

This month I am taking an online class from Summer Card Camp. I am very excited as this is my first on line class. This week they gave us this really bright color combo to make a card. Color challenges are always the hardest for me so this is really good to step outside of my box. I like how this one turned out but would really like to try another one. I need to make some 4th of July cards so don't know if I will get it done as these bright colors don't really lend themselves to that kind of card, unless I get really creative. ha ha

Make It Monday

Today I made this card for the Make It Monday Challenge at Papertrey Ink. The challenge was a reverse masking. I don't have a lot of images for this so it's back to my old stand by the mason jar. After I put the card together I realized that I could have done the same technique on the lid but I had already fussy cut out the patterned paper and didn't want to waste it. Maybe next time I'll be more creative.

MoJo Monday

Today I made a card for the MoJo Monday sketch challenge. It's pretty simple but I like how it turned out, especially the leaf and the half circle. I just keep working on that basic grey paper pack too.

Card Patterns

Today I made an anniversary card for a friend and used the sketch from card patterns. After I finished it seemed kinda plain so I gave it a couple of sprays with some gold glimmer mist to give it a shimmer.

Make It Monday

This weeks Make it Monday challenge at Papertrey was to ink your stamp and then ink around the edges with a different color. I needed to make a fathers day card and wanted to break out my two new stamp sets grunge me and my hero my dad. I added some stickles and some glossy accents to the centers of the circles. Pretty simple and clean but it will due.

Card Pattern Sketch

I have been using a lot of pink and green lately on my cards. Part of the reason is because I purchased the Basic Grey Sweet Threads 6 x 6 paper pack. All the patterns are so pretty it's the first thing I am reaching for. This card is from the Card Pattern Sketch and turned out pretty simple. There is some stickles on the flowers and I traced over my line with a stardust pen, but it's hard to see in the picture.

Mojo Sketch

Today I needed to make a birthday card for a friend so I went to the Mojo Monday sketch challenge. This card was fun as I got to use my sew easy for the scallops and I also used another Papertrey jar that I made last week in on of their challenges using UTE.

Tissue Challenge

This weeks Make It Monday challenge over at Papertrey Ink was to use tissue paper over your patterned paper. Well a few posts back you may remember that I used sewing patterns to cut out flowers and since patterns are made of tissue paper I decided since I had already cut into a pattern I might as well keep going. I used the Quilters Sampler set for my background. It took a really long time to stamp and color all those quilt blocks but I think it was worth it. I always have a hard time getting my quilt blocks straight so I liked the fact that the tissue paper covered that up a little and you don't really notice it's not perfect. Ha ha not that my cards are ever perfect but you know what I mean. I also sprayed the card with some glimmer mist but couldn't get a photo with that it would show. I will definitely keep this technique in mind for future vintage cards.

Card Patterns Challenge

This week I tried the card patterns sketch challenge. I thought I had this really great idea for a card. The sketch really looked like waves to me and so that is what I tried to make it look like with my swirls. Not really sure I like this card all that well but I guess we can't be happy with all the cards we make. Maybe the next one. I'm working on a PTI challenge that I hope will turn out better :)

UTE

Today I participated in the Papertrey Make It Monday Challenge. The challenge was to use ultra thick embossing powder and apply three layers and then ink. I think it turned out pretty cool. I just knew I needed to use it on the friendship jar to make a pretty pink lemonade. I didn't have a pretty pink ink so I stamped with ink and then stamped again with versamark to emboss. This was my first time using the UTE and I think it turned out okay. I definitely need practice because the first time I did it my paper turned brown, too much heat I think. You can click on the card to see my cracks better. On the inside of the card I'm putting, "When life gives you lemons, ask for tequila and salt and call me over." I have a friend who found out her employer is closing so I thought this would be a fun pick me up card for her.
